At Longtown Primary School, we are proud of the way the children step up to take on roles and responsibilities around school. Our Sports Leaders Scheme gives children in Upper Key Stage Two (Year 5 and 6) the chance to lead on sporting activities around school.
Our current leaders wrote letters of application to gain the role and were presented with hoodies so that they are clearly visible to children at playtimes and lunchtimes. Their main job is to organise play opportunities at playtimes which encourage other children to have an active and healthy playtime. Activities could include skipping games, football or encouraging children to use the playtime equipment responsibly.
In addition, over the course of this year, the sports leaders will lead activities on Sports Day and in helping to organise charity sporting events like Race for Life and represent school at sporting events and festivals.
Our current sports leaders are: Thomas Wigham ( Year 6), Arthur-Roy Power ( Year 6), Emilia Atlinski ( Year 6), Carley Conley ( Year 5) Oliver Elliott ( Year 5) and Reece Templeton (Year 5)
