William Howard played host to Cumbria Education Trust’s Primary School Junior Masterchef Challenge on Wednesday, 6 March. The pupils from CET primary schools were challenged to create a range of finger foods and canapés, showing creative use of skills, technical knowledge and design flair.
The participants were picked from their school round to compete in the final, held here in the WHS Food Room. Our Year 10 Food & Nutrition students mentored the young teams from Longtown, Yanwath and Yewdale Primary Schools and the judges were a professional chef from RAF Spadeadam, Tracey Blenkinsop along with WHS DT Food Teacher, Mrs Mckenna.
The young pupils produced an impressive spread of beautiful, appetising dishes that would not look out of place in a professional restaurant. The overall winners were Yanwath Primary School, but all the teams were amazing – working very hard with great skill and imagination.
