Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you and your families are safe and well at this time and you have had a peaceful Christmas and New Year.
As a result of the new government guidance and the Tier 4 status of Cumbria, we are reviewing our practices to ensure the best possible safety for our staff, pupils and communities. Cumbria is currently experiencing high rates of transmission of the new strain of SARS-COV-2, which is resulting in high numbers of new cases across most of the county.
We intend to keep school closed to all pupils tomorrow, Monday 4th January to enable Risk assessments to be reviewed and updated and for discussions to take place with all staff to ensure that our schools are as safe as it is possible for them to be. This will form an In-Service Day (INSET) for staff to make all of the necessary arrangements.
Return to schools for pupils would be as soon as possible – most likely on Tuesday 5th January, subject to us being satisfied that we are able to continue to provide the safest possible environment. However, the situation is changing rapidly and we will continue to update you as we are informed. I know this is as frustrating for you as it is for us, all happening at the last minute but safety is paramount and we must make sure we are following the agreed guidelines.
Thank you for your continued support during what continues to be a very difficult and challenging time.If you have any questions please feel free to message Miss Smith or myself via Dojo. We will be happy to answer any queries.
We are sincerely sorry for the lateness of this letter but we are acting as fast as we can in a changing situation.
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Lauren Hitchen
Acting Headteacher
