Dear Parents
As you are aware, the school had a full Ofsted Inspection, earlier this term on Tuesday 14th May and Wednesday 15th May 2019. I am now able to share the report with you and the outcome of our full Section 5 Inspection. A copy of the report can be found here, which you can read in full, but I would like to outline for you the most important information.
We are extremely proud to inform you that the overall judgement is that we are, for the first time in the history of Longtown Primary School, officially rated as a GOOD school.
The summary evaluation of the inspection is as follows:
Overall effectiveness | Good
Effectiveness of Leadership and Management | Good
Personal development, behaviour and safety | Good
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment | Good
Outcomes for pupils | Good
Early Years Provision | Good |
The report is certainly worth a more thorough read as it is overwhelmingly positive and reflects the progress we have made as a school since becoming part of Cumbria Education Trust in September 2016.
We are particularly proud that our teachers were praised for bringing learning to life, that the significant improvements in attendance were recognised and that our pupils’ behaviour is impeccable and that they have positive attitudes towards their learning.
As a school, and with the support of the Trust, we will continue to strive to improve in those areas identified for further improvement. It is our challenge to see that every element of our work reaches the highest possible levels. I know that I will have your support in the work we will be doing together to make Longtown Primary School exceptional for all our pupils.
This is a fantastic achievement for everyone in our school community; to be able to say we have changed the course of the school’s history is something to be immensely proud of – we would like you to join us on Friday 14th June at 2pm here at the school to celebrate our success.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Cate Floyd
Headteacher
