Attendance initiative Longtown Primary School 2018/19
Our attendance was massively improved last year with us finishing the year above national average for the first time in the history of Longtown Primary School!
This year we hope to beat last year’s attendance of 96.4% through continuing the same initiatives the children have said they found most useful from last year.
- Weekly: All classes have will be on a chart in the hall and during a Celebration assembly on a Friday, children will find out which class has had the most attendance in the previous week. These classes will move up on the attendance chart. At the end of the half term, the class who have moved up the chart the closest to the school gates will have a non-uniform day.
- Half termly: We will be sending out letters to you with your child’s attendance on and any further action that is needed e.g. a conversation with Mrs Storey or Mrs Floyd.
- Termly: Children who are in line with or above our 96% target will have the opportunity to collect a Bronze (autumn), Silver (spring) or Gold (summer) prize from our prize trolley. Each term these will be reset so children who did not earn a prize in one term can qualify the following term. Children may also save their attendance up all year to earn a gold prize.
- Yearly: At the end of the academic year, any children who have had 100% attendance will have the opportunity to receive a very special award. Last year we gave out 14 £10 book vouchers.
All the prizes and trips for this have been paid for by our PTA.
We will continue to work with families whose attendance falls below targets and support plans will be set up.
Please contact Mrs Storey at school for more information.
