Year 5 pupils from Longtown Primary and Yewdale Primary visited the University of Cumbria, Fusehill Street Campus for a What is University Day on the 5th and 6th June. The event was organised by Mrs Hill, Lead Practitioner (Careers, Financial Education and Enterprise) who said “ It is really exciting for our pupils to visit the University and to raise aspirations for future careers”.
The day included:
- What is University –looking at the differences between school and university including a Q&A session.
- Campus Fact Finding Mission – students went on a tour of the campus with student ambassadors and asked questions to answer about the various areas they visited.
- Film & TV Workshop – students created their own short film to show to the rest of the group.
- Mini Graduation – All students left with a certificate and had the chance to try on graduation gowns and hats.
Year 6 pupils in both schools were visited by the University of Cumbria earlier in the year as part of National Careers Week.
